New 2021 GMC Canyon for Sale in Sudbury, ON

The competition is heating up in the midsize pickup truck segment these days, but the 2021 GMC Canyon remains the one to beat. The Canyon has timeless styling, excellent engines, plenty of capability and flexibility, and a very good infotainment system. It all adds up to a pickup truck that makes a great case for itself as an alternative to a sedan, hatchback, or even an SUV for a lot of potential buyers.

For the 2021 model year, the Canyon gets a light refresh that includes a new front grille design, and major surgery has been carried out on the truck’s trim level lineup.

Introducing an All-New Lineup

It’s not often that a vehicle gets a complete overhaul of its trim levels outside of a new-generation being launched, but that’s what GMC has done with the 2021 Canyon midsize pickup truck. The entry-level model in the new-look lineup is now the Elevation Standard, and then the lineup goes to the Elevation, AT4 and the range-topping Denali.

A new front grille is the only really notable change to the way the Canyon looks for 2021, but that’s not going to be an issue for anyone as this truck has a style that never goes out of fashion. It may have been around in pretty much its current form for a while now, but there’s little need to change a winning formula that delivers a slightly sporty midsize pickup with that extra bit of GMC swagger and presence.

Punching Above Its Weight

Just because the 2021 GMC Canyon is a midsize truck that inevitably hasn’t got the size and weight of a full-size model like the Sierra, it doesn’t mean it’s some sort of lightweight. This is a model that wears many different hats and can be asked to do any number of jobs. One minute it could be being used to take the family to the South End Dog Park to exercise your four-legged friend, but it could also be called on to tow a boat to Silver Lake for a spot of fishing or haul a load of tools to the construction site.

The base engine is a 2.5-litre inline-four that develops 200 horsepower and 191 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a standard six-speed automatic transmission. Most buyers will probably go for the extra power and capability of the available 3.6-litre V-6 instead, however, which then gives the Canyon a very healthy 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque to go to work with. The V-6 comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and this combination delivers a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds (3,175kg).

There’s even now a turbodiesel engine option that’s a great option for those intending to do a lot of towing with their new 2021 GMC Canyon. This engine is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel that puts out 186 horsepower and a massive 369 lb.-ft. of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission, and it increases the towing capability of the Canyon to 7,700 pounds (3,492kg).

Any way you want it

Elevation Standard models come standard with the 2.5-litre engine, 18-inch Black-gloss alloy wheels, a six-speaker audio system, power locks and windows, a rearview camera, climate control, and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

The Elevation trim starts with an immediate upgrade to the V-6 engine, but it also adds 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, a six-way power driver’s seat, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, automatic climate control, USB charging ports, cruise control, remote keyless entry, remote start and plenty more besides.

Elevation and Elevation Standard trims are standard rear-wheel-drive, but the AT4 and Denali both get all-wheel-drive as part of their standard equipment. The AT4 is the off-road-focused model with appropriate styling and more tangible extra features such as an off-road suspension package, trailering package and a transfer case shield, while the Denali goes down the luxury route with heated and ventilated front seats, Bose audio, navigation, forward collision warning, a heated steering wheel, 20-inch chrome wheels and more.
