If you think the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited is just another vehicle for towing and hauling then think again. The 2022 Silverado can be almost any vehicle you want it to be, and for a lot of families, it could be the only vehicle you need for every occasion. Whether you’re driving to and from work or the mall in Sudbury, hauling equipment to the worksite, or heading out into the mountains or to the lake for a weekend adventure, the Silverado 1500 Limited has got every base covered and then some.
You have either five or eight versions of the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited to choose from, depending on whether you want rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive. The entry-level model if you stick with the standard rear-drive format is the WT (Work Truck), and from there the range goes to the Custom, LT, RST, and range-topping LTZ. If a 4×4 truck is what you need then the lineup you have to select from also starts with the WT, Custom, LT, and RST, but you also have the Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and the seriously well-equipped and stylish High Country.
Even though the naturally aspirated V-6 that used to be the standard engine has been dropped, there are still four superb engine options to choose from that now start with the excellent 2.7-litre turbo-four that puts a very healthy 310 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft. of torque at your truck’s disposal. If a more traditional V-8 unit is your preferred option, the Chevy truck is happy to oblige with a familiar 5.3-litre V-8 that develops 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque.
The third of the four engine options is the superb 6.2-litre V-8 with its 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque that’s available for some of the higher specification models. However, if you’re planning on doing a lot of regular, heavy towing and hauling the final engine of the quartet is probably the way to go as it’s a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbodiesel that develops 277 horsepower and the same 460 lb.-ft. of torque as the 6.2. The turbo-four and the 5.3-litre V-8 come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but a 10-speed automatic is also available if you go with the 5.3-litre V-8 and it’s standard with the 6.2-litre V-8 and the turbodiesel engines.
The base Silverado 1500 Limited WT is definitely the no-nonsense workhorse of the lineup, but even that model comes with more than just the basics and the standard equipment levels just get better and more impressive as you progress through the trim levels. And if you also decide to raid the list of available options you can configure a truck for yourself that really is something special.
Among the Chevy’s standout features are an available powered tailgate that raises and lowers at the push of a button on the gate, key fob, or from inside the cabin; an available six-way power tailgate that further enhances the truck’s versatility and convenience; a rearview camera mirror; and a segment-first available Advanced Trailering System with an In-Vehicle App that allows you to create customized trailer profiles. In fact, the Silverado makes towing and hauling as easy as it possibly can for you with as many as 15 different camera views available that no other truck in its class can match.
It’s easy to concentrate on all the standard and available features and capability the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Limited can boast about to make it a standout truck for towing and hauling, but this is a vehicle that’s suitable for far more than just towing trailers and hauling construction materials.
