Unless a light-duty pickup isn’t rated capable enough for the job you have at hand, then it’s hard to think of much the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited isn’t capable of. The Sierra 1500 Limited boasts as much capability, flexibility, and versatility as you could ask for in its class, but it takes the issue of class to another level with styling, comfort and swagger that a lot of luxury sedans and SUVs would be proud of. There are so many ways to configure this truck in terms of trim levels, cabs, beds, engines, and available options; there has to be a 2022 Sierra 1500 Limited for any job you have for a half-ton truck in Sudbury and beyond.
There are six trim levels in the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited lineup that start with the entry-level model that’s now been renamed as the Limited Pro, and from there the range goes to SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and finally to top-of-the-range and somewhat legendary Denali. As well as the different trim levels, you also get to choose from Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles and standard, short and long bed sizes. And of course, you then have almost infinite customization opportunities with drivetrains, transmissions, colours, interiors, wheels, engines, packages, and available options.
The Sierra 1500 no longer has a V-6 as its base engine, but instead, you get the sensational 2.7-litre turbo-four as the Sierra’s standard power unit. This excellent powerplant develops a seriously capable 310 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, which is more than you’d expect from a more old-school naturally aspirated V-6.
If you would like something a little more traditional under the hood of your new truck, then GMC is happy to oblige with the next engine option, which is a 5.3-litre V-8 that provides the Sierra 1500 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Things then get even more serious on the powerplant ladder with a 6.2-litre V-8 that puts out with 420 horsepower and a mighty 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The final engine option is a 3.0-litre inline-six turbodiesel that produces 277 horsepower and the same 460 lb.-ft. of torque as the 6.2-litre gas V-8. Combined with chassis updates and a larger rear differential, it means that the maximum trailer rating is now 5,896 kg (13,300 pounds) which is around 1,814 kg (4,000 pounds) more than it was previously.
The most basic air conditioning system has been upgraded to a more sophisticated climate-control system even in the lowest trim levels, but almost any feature you can imagine is available in the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited lineup. The outrageously opulent 1500 Denali comes with a sensational list of standard equipment, but even this imperious truck can be enhanced further if the standard form isn’t quite what you want. A good example of this would be the Denali Reserve Package that you may have known previously as the Denali Ultimate Package, and this includes the likes of power-retractable side steps, a power sunroof, a rear camera mirror, and adaptive cruise control.
It’s certainly not a case of style over substance, however, as practicality and capability are still among the main attributes of the Sierra 1500 Limited with features such as a world-first six-function Multi-Pro Tailgate and the industry-first use of carbon-fibre composite in the pickup beds.
You’ll find the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited can do anything and everything you’d expect of a top-class full-size, light-duty pickup truck, but it does it all with a little more style and panache than most.
