It’s easy to design a stunning-looking SUV if style is all that matters, and it’s also easy to assume a practical vehicle probably has to be relatively dull. The all-new 2023 Chevrolet Blazer turns orthodoxy like that on its head. When you drive around Sudbury in a 2023 Chevy Blazer, you’re going to turn heads because it looks sensational. But you can also bask in a warm glow of self-satisfaction knowing your Blazer is as practical as it is stylish, with ample room for five people and a decent amount of space left over for cargo. Oh yes, and it’s also great to drive.
The first thing that grabs you about the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is its refreshed styling. The new look isn’t radically different from last year, but the modest updates do just enough to keep the contemporary aesthetic right up to date. The front fascia gets the most attention with a new grille, LED headlamps, and LED daytime running lamps. At the rear, some new taillights also make an appearance to match the style of those new lights at the front.
All models in the lineup now come with a standard 10.0-inch diagonal centre screen, and some new 18-, 20-, and 21-inch alloy wheels designs are now available. Wireless device charging is now a standard feature for the two top trim levels, and a Nightshift Blue interior is available for the Sporty RS version of the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer.
Most Blazer models get the larger of the two available engines, but that doesn’t mean the base powerplant isn’t worth its place in the lineup. The base engine is a 2.0-litre turbo-four standard with the base LT trim level. The potent little powerplant puts out 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which gets to the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre engine is more than adequate for town or highway journeys, and it’s also the most fuel-efficient of the two available units.
However, with its 307 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of available torque, the 3.6-litre V-6 will be the first choice engine for most shoppers. With either engine, the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer is confident, responsive, and more engaging to drive than its main rivals, especially the sporty RS trim level with its exclusive steering and suspension tuning. The entry-level LT trim is available with the V-6 engine, but it’s the standard unit for the True North, RS, and range-topping Premier trim.
The 2023 Chevrolet Blazer comes generously equipped with standard features and equipment at every level, and the standard specification of the Blazer Premier is seriously impressive. But where all four trim levels genuinely excel is in the area of standard safety features. For a start, every model comes with a standard HD rear vision camera. But the standard inclusion across the lineup of Chevrolet Safety Assist catches the eye and is sure to give peace of mind to you and your passengers.
The standard suite of driver-assistance features includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. Adaptive Cruise Control is also available for LT and True North trim levels and comes standard with the RS and Premier trims.
The 2023 Chevrolet Blazer delivers all the style and performance you could ask for in an affordable midsize crossover SUV and plenty more.
