When you start seeing the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax on the roads and highways of Sudbury, only the name and the fact that it’s a small crossover will remind you of its predecessor. Few models deserve the “all-new” tag as much as the 2024 Chevy Trax does, especially as it’s now longer, wider, and has more room than ever for passengers and cargo. As well as making the most of the extra space available, the new interior is as stylish as the exterior and comes packed with the latest features and technology.
Although the stunning exterior styling of the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax is a total departure for the nameplate, the design philosophy is very much in line with other SUVs the brand has been revealing over the last couple of years. The new Trax boasts a bold, sporty, athletic, and muscular design that borrows heavily from larger SUV models already in the Chevy portfolio. Global Chevrolet’s executive design director Phil Zak says of the new Trax, “The bold exterior and tech-forward interior design of the all-new Trax redefines what an entry-level vehicle can be.”
All of the five available trim levels have their own specific design cues to differentiate them. These trim-specific features include grille designs, alloy wheels, and interior décor. The new lineup kicks off with the entry-level LS trim, and after that, the range goes to the 1RS, LT, 2RS, and finally to the top-of-the-range ACTIV.
There isn’t a genuine need for large displacement engines and advanced all-wheel-drive systems for vehicles like the 2024 Trax that will spend their time almost exclusively on the pavement. Chevrolet could have made such features available for those who still wanted them but instead decided to concentrate on delivering everything urban drivers need and nothing they don’t need.
That’s why a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine features under the hood of every version of the 2024 Chevrolet Trax. This appropriately small displacement powerplant puts out a healthy 137 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sent exclusively to the front wheels through a tried and tested six-speed automatic transmission. Along with being perfectly appropriate for its size and environment, the small-displacement unit will also deliver the kind of fuel economy ratings that are increasingly important to new vehicle shoppers.
Although the stunning exterior styling will understandably attract plenty of headlines, an equally significant part of the appeal of the exciting new model is the value for money it offers in its class. Even with such an attractive starting MSRP, the entry-level LS is a generously equipped model with standard alloy wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, heated front seats, LED headlights, and active noise cancellation. As part of their standard specification, all models also feature the Chevrolet Safety Assist suite of advanced safety and driver awareness technologies.
The standard safety features that every 2024 Trax gets include Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, IntelliBeam auto high-beam control, and Following Distance Indicator.
