After a relatively brief period in the midsize segment, the new GMC Acadia is back to being an unapologetically midsize SUV. Compact and midsize SUVs are great, but sometimes only a midsize model will do. The new GMC Acadia makes no apologies for its size, presence, and capability. If you need space for seven or eight people and plenty of cargo, the GMC Acadia is right up there with the very best.
Unlike many midsize rivals, the GMC Acadia is a crossover and not built on a ladder-frame truck platform. This makes a lot of sense, as the GMC Acadia will likely spend most of its life on the tarmac. The crossover platform delivers a comfortable ride and driving dynamics that can feel like those of a considerably smaller vehicle. The GMC Acadia straddles the line between mass-market and luxury, making it a sensational option for a broad audience.
There are four trim levels in the GMC Acadia lineup. Unlike some vehicles where the entry model is a stripped-down offering at a low starting price to attract fleets, the base GMC Acadia is an excellent specification. You'll find way more features than the bare essentials. In fact, you'll find mid-range models from some rival brands with less standard equipment. At the other end of the spectrum, Denali is no longer the pinnacle as there's now a Denali Ultimate.
The base specification of the new GMC Acadia will be ideal for a large proportion of shoppers. You're unlikely to notice any glaring omissions when testing drive an Elevation. However, it's also easy to be extremely tempted by the higher trim levels when you experience what they have to offer. If you can think of a feature, it will likely be in the lineup somewhere, and there may be some you've never even considered.
