If you want a new pickup truck that looks fantastic, drives great, and has plenty of towing and hauling capability for all sorts of journeys and applications around Sudbury and the surrounding area, plenty of people will immediately refer you to a full-size pickup. However, if you want something a little smaller, lighter, more maneuverable, and with better fuel economy, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado is ready to ride to the rescue. The Colorado has long been a first-choice truck for many in the midsize segment, but the 2024 model takes this sensational truck to an entirely new level.
Loads of trucks are available with a bewildering array of ways to configure them, but the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado takes a more rationable approach to specifications. Plenty of choices remain available, but the new Colorado has done away with superfluous configurations that hardly anyone ever bought. Most buyers understandably choose crew cabs for their five seats and four full-size doors, so every 2024 Colorado comes with a crew cab and a short bed. There’s also a single engine that powers the Colorado in all five trim levels, but there are important variations with different trim levels.
The available trim levels cover a lot of ground, with five options to choose from. The base model is the fleet-focused WT, so retail buyers will start at the LT and then look to the Trail Boss, Z71, and the ZR2. The ZR2 is an incredibly exciting and desirable addition to the Colorado family, so demand is always solid for the range-topper. However, the 2024 Colorado goes even further by adding a Bison edition to the ZR2 offer. The Bison adds a raft of off-road features to the already capable ZR2. These include Multimatic front and rear dampers, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with segment-exclusive 35-inch OD Mud/Terrain tires, power-locking front and rear differentials, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and plenty more.
As you just read, all versions of the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado come with what appears to be the same engine. However, the 2.7-litre turbo-four that also features in the Colorado’s full-size, light-duty sibling propels the Colorado in three different versions. The WT and LT trims get what’s referred to as the 2.7L Turbo, a version of the engine that develops 237 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.
If you step up to the Trail Boss or Z71 trim levels, you then get the 2.7L Turbo Plus, which increases the output to 310 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Although the 2.7L Turbo High Output in the range-topping ZR2 puts out the same 310 horsepower as the Turbo Plus, the available torque increases by 40 to 430 lb.-ft. And when it comes to towing, the 2024 Colorado can tow up to 3,493 kg (7,700 pounds) when properly configured, which would have been full-size truck capability not too many years ago.
There are tons of standard and available features and technology to impress and delight you with the stunning 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. Some are entirely practical, such as the available class-exclusive integrated tailgate with its lockable, built-in watertight storage compartment that’s perfect for stowing tools or emergency equipment and even includes a drain that allows it to be used as a cooler. And on the inside, there’s an 11.3-inch Diagonal Infotainment Display, up to an 11-inch Diagonal Digital Driver Information Centre, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and best-in-class camera technology with up to ten different camera views.
Depending on the trim level, five different drive modes are also available to make life easier. The five modes are Normal: for everyday on-road driving. Tow/Haul: for trailering and hauling. Off-Road: designed for general off-pavement driving. Terrain: for low-speed rock crawling and the ZR2-exclusive Baja mode for high-speed desert running.
The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado is all the truck you need as long as 3,493 kg is enough towing capacity for you.
